New posters show North Korea mobilizing young people in key industries [PHOTOS]

North Korea's state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) has released a new set of propaganda posters, one of which shows young people at the vanguard on "all fronts of socialist construction."

The posters show North Korean workers, especially young people, active in the country's key industries, including power, coal, metal and chemical production, agriculture, fisheries, light industry, construction and science.

The state media said on Friday that an appeal to the country's young people was adopted at the ninth Plenary Meeting of the Central Committee of Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist Youth League that took place a day before, to encourage their devotion to achieving economic goals set by the leader Kim Jong-un in his New Year speech.

"The appeal called upon the youth league organizations and youth of the country to fully demonstrate the heroic spirit … as youth vanguard … in the van of the general offensive campaign to open a new road of advance for socialist construction under the uplifted banner of self-reliance," KCNA said.

The Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) organ Rodong Sinmun also carried the full text of the appeal that called for young people's devotion to state industries over their personal interests or housework. Forest restoration was also included in the national tasks, along with the key industries.
